Description Compass
Compass — a modern winter rapeseed hybrid, featuring numerous advantages and designed for high yields across various regions of Ukraine. It is characterized by medium flowering and maturation, ranging from mid-early to mid-ripening, ensuring stable yields. The Compass hybrid exhibits high tolerance to premature cracking and verticillium, and includes the Pioneer Protector® gene for sclerotinia resistance. Test results show significant yield increases — up to 12.6% with optimal sowing dates and 9.2% with late sowing, reaching yields over 60 c/ha under intensive cultivation. Additionally, the hybrid leads in oil content, which reaches 52.6% in dry matter.

Rapeseed is one of the most popular oilseed crops used for producing oil, animal feed, and biodiesel. Rapeseed seeds contain about 50% oil and exhibit high resistance to moisture, drought, and pests, as well as tolerance to temperatures down to -20 degrees, which is especially important for the Ukrainian climate. Successful rapeseed cultivation requires fertile soils, such as gray forest soils and chernozems, and additional mineral fertilizers are required if these soils are absent to ensure plants receive necessary nutrients.

Rapeseed cultivation requires careful agronomic management, including proper fertilization and care. Organic fertilizers are applied during primary soil preparation, while mineral fertilizers are used at sowing and during the vegetative period. Nitrogen applications are conducted in multiple stages: in small amounts in autumn, and the main part in spring in several applications, using ammonium nitrate and urea. Foliar microelement applications are combined with plant protection treatments. Maintaining a neutral to slightly alkaline soil reaction (pH 5.8–6.5) with mandatory liming in acidic soils improves nutrient uptake. Additionally, winter rapeseed positively responds to sulfur application, which enhances nitrogen uptake and increases yields.
