Pumpkin WARTY GOBLIN

Cultivation and Growth Characteristics

The "Worty Goblin" (F1) hybrid, registered in 2025, is a vining pumpkin variety characterized by moderate branching. Given its morphology—large, deeply lobed leaves and long, prickly petioles—proper spacing is essential for optimal development. A planting density of at least 1.5–2 meters between rows is recommended to prevent overcrowding, which can inhibit photosynthesis and increase the risk of disease in the canopy.

Soil and Irrigation Requirements

Developed by HM.CLAUSE, Inc. (USA), this hybrid thrives in well-drained, fertile soils with a neutral pH. Due to the plant's vigorous vining habit, consistent moisture management is critical. While the plant is robust, excessive soil moisture during fruit maturation should be avoided to maintain the integrity of the fruit skin, which exhibits a distinct green color in the early stages.

Phased Care Management

• Seedling Stage: The elliptical cotyledons with moderate green intensity require protection from soil-borne pests during the first two weeks post-emergence.
• Vegetative Growth: As the plant develops its vining structure, regular inter-row cultivation is necessary to manage weeds and ensure soil aeration.
• Flowering: Both male and female flowers feature a distinct yellow ring inside the corolla. This stage is sensitive to thermal stress; ensuring adequate potassium and boron levels is vital for successful pollination and fruit set.
