Winter wheat variety Askaniyska is one of the best varieties recommended for cultivation in southern regions such as forest-steppe and steppe. This variety belongs to the medium-early maturity group, with plant height reaching 93-100 cm. A distinctive feature of the variety is its high protein content in grain — from 13.3 to 14.9 %, and the 1000-grain weight varies within 38.0-49.2 g. The yield potential of the variety reaches 8.2 t/ha, confirming its high productivity and adaptability to agroclimatic conditions. Variety Askaniyska is characterized by high winter hardiness and resistance to various diseases and adverse factors. It shows resistance to lodging (7.5-8.4 points), shattering (8.8-8.9 points), root rot, septoria, fusarium, brown rust, and powdery mildew at a level of 7 points. These characteristics make the variety a reliable choice for cultivation in dry steppe climate conditions, where minimizing pesticide use and reducing ecological load is essential. The development and introduction of the Askaniyska variety were carried out using scientifically based cultivation technologies adapted to both irrigated and dryland conditions. In 2017, the variety ranked first in productivity among newly registered wheat varieties, demonstrating the best winter hardiness and adaptability. Due to these qualities, Askaniyska is a promising variety for primary seed production and sustainable agricultural production in southern regions.
