Description PG 17-16
The PG 17‑16 pear clone rootstock is a medium-sized, upright bush obtained at the I.V. Michurin All-Russian Research Institute of Horticulture from the free pollination of the 'Tema' variety. It is characterized by straight, rounded shoots with a small number of thorns and weak branching, making the tree compact and convenient for cultivation in limited spaces.

Fruit-bearing on grafted trees begins as early as the fourth year after planting. The yield is 250–300 c/ha, while the root system is highly frost-resistant – it withstands temperatures down to -16 °C. Thanks to these properties, the rootstock does not require support and easily adapts to various climatic conditions.

The rootstock is resistant to the main pear diseases: scab, powdery mildew, and gall mite. The leaves are large, oval with a serrated edge, light green, and the buds are large, slightly deflected, and conical. The petiole is of medium length, hairy on the upper part, giving the bush an aesthetically pleasing appearance. Due to good compatibility with various pear varieties, PG 17‑16 is a universal choice for gardeners seeking reliable and productive trees.
