Sunflower POVOZHSKY 8® is a mid-early intense hybrid intended for cultivation on irrigated lands and various soil-climatic conditions. The plant reaches a height of 160-180 cm, does not branch, has medium-sized green leaves with minimal blisterness and fine serration. Flowers are yellow, ligules in narrow-oval shape, heads of medium size with a curved stem and slightly convex seed side. Seeds are of medium size, narrow-oval, black in color with distinctly visible grey stripes. The hybrid is characterized by high resistance to diseases, in particular to downy mildew (races A-D), and durability against Phoma, ensuring crop stability even under insufficient moisture conditions. Average seed yield varies by region, ranging from 13.5 to 24.6 c/ha, with maximum indicators reaching 31.1-32.0 c/ha in certain holdings in the Rostov and Saratov regions. Fat content in seeds is about 45-47%, protein — 17.2%, and kernel mass fraction — 35.4%. Oil yield reaches 5.9-6.7 c/ha, corresponding to quality standards. A feature of the hybrid is the high oleic acid content in oil (86-87%), which improves oil quality and increases its oxidation resistance even under unfavorable harvesting conditions and long-term storage. Due to these characteristics, POVOZHSKY 8® is recommended for producing high-quality oil and confectionery products. The hybrid differs in high competitiveness and is the earliest among high-oleic hybrids of the company, allowing for effective use in various agrotechnical systems.
