Sunflower hybrid Macao is an early-maturing hybrid intended for sowing and high-quality harvest. The vegetation period ranges from 108 to 115 days, and plant height reaches 160-180 cm. The medium-sized head is directed downward, facilitating harvest. Seeds contain a high oil content — 50 to 52%, making this hybrid especially valuable for sunflower oil and seed production.
Hybrid Macao is distinguished by high resistance to various diseases and pests. It is genetically resistant to six races of the aphid parasite, and also shows resistance to such diseases as rust, false powdery mildew, fomopsis, alternaria, gray and white mold. Additionally, the variety exhibits high resistance to both aerial and soil drought, enabling successful cultivation in forest-steppe and steppe zones. The recommended seeding density at harvest time is 45-50 thousand plants per hectare, with a potential yield reaching 4.7 tons per hectare.
Sunflower seeds of Macao are supplied in elite class with high germination energy and similarity up to 97%. The thousand-seed mass is approximately 72 grams. The hybrid is resistant to shattering and seed drop, as well as to the herbicide imazamox (Euro-Lightning) at a dose of 1.2 l/ha. The seed material is original, intended for field cultivation and supplied in bags containing 150,000 seeds. This combination of characteristics makes sunflower Macao a reliable choice for farmers aiming to achieve a high-quality harvest.
