IS 2‑10 is a rootstock for pears, distinguished by its enhanced root system winter hardiness and high prolificacy. In garden trials, it demonstrated high productivity: trees on this rootstock reach a height of about three meters, and fruiting begins as early as the third‑fourth year. Fruits formed on IS 2‑10 are typically larger than those grown from pear seeds.
The rootstock is well compatible with regionally adapted pear varieties and allows significantly reducing crown volume compared to traditional rootstocks. It prefers fertile, moderately moist soils; at the same time, it tolerates waterlogging better than drought. Thanks to these characteristics, IS 2‑10 is suitable for cultivation in Forest-steppe and Polyssa conditions.
It is exceptionally resistant to root rot and moderately susceptible to leaf scorch, the rootstock exhibits dwarf growth (3–4 m) and a long productive period. This makes it an attractive choice for gardeners seeking compact, yet highly productive pear trees with large fruits.
