Peony ISAAC LEVITAN

Botanical Profile and Breeding Value

The 'Isaac Levitan' peony is a distinguished product of breeding efforts conducted by Lomonosov Moscow State University under the guidance of M.S. Uspenskaya. Unlike complex double-flowered forms, this herbaceous peony showcases the aesthetic of a simple flower, making it highly desirable for landscape design and naturalistic garden compositions.

Technical Specifications and Adaptability

• Flowering Type: Simple. The flower maintains a light, airy structure that does not weigh down the bush, ensuring the stems remain resistant to lodging during heavy rains.
• Color Palette: The transition from pure white tones to soft pink hues gives the plant a watercolor-like appearance, justifying its name inspired by the famous landscape artist.
• Phenology: This is an early-blooming variety (May 15–30), allowing gardeners to establish a decorative display well before the summer heat peak.
• Abiotic Resilience: With frost resistance down to -30 °C and high drought tolerance, the variety is a reliable technological choice for regions with fluctuating climates, requiring minimal intervention in cultivation practices.

Agronomic Insights

To realize the full potential of the 'Isaac Levitan' variety, planting in sunny, open locations is essential. The plant exhibits high growth vigor. Due to its significant drought tolerance, this peony requires less irrigation effort compared to more moisture-dependent exotic varieties, making it an efficient choice for sustainable landscape maintenance.
