Charm

The Paeonia lactiflora 'Charm' variety is a large-flowered perennial shrub with a height ranging from 60 to 100 cm. The plant forms a voluminous, upright bush with dark green, smooth foliage and sturdy stems capable of supporting up to two or three buds on each flowering stem. Flowers reach a diameter of up to 16 cm, have a simple or semi-double form, and feature a diverse color palette—from white and cream to pink and red—with silky petals and a pleasant aroma. Stamens are golden-yellow, and flowers are positioned on the surface of the bush, creating an impressive decorative effect.

The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, resistance to diseases and pests, drought tolerance, and heat resistance, allowing for successful cultivation in northern latitudes and various climatic conditions. The blooming period occurs in May-June, lasting about two weeks, while fruits ripen in October. Peonies prefer sunny locations with loamy, slightly acidic soil with a pH of 6-6.5. Seeds are sown in autumn at a depth of 3-4 cm; spring sowing requires stratification, and germination may occur the following year or the year after.
