Onion Mustang F1

Focus on Processing: Why Mustang F1 Onion is a Pro's Choice

The Dutch breeding company Bejo once again confirms its leadership in the long-day onion segment. The Mustang F1 hybrid is a highly specialized tool for farmers focused on industrial processing. Unlike general-purpose varieties, this onion is engineered for specific performance indicators: a stable yield of dry matter (10–12%) and mechanical harvesting efficiency.

Key Advantages

• Root System Resilience: One of the main challenges for onion growers is pink root rot. Mustang F1 features genetic resistance to this disease, allowing it to be grown in fields with high pathogen pressure without the risk of crop loss during the vegetation period.
• Perfect Geometry for Processing Lines: The round shape and firm structure of the white bulb make it ideal for mechanical peeling and industrial processing, such as dehydration, freezing, or canning.
• Long-Day Stability: This hybrid is perfectly adapted to specific daylight conditions, ensuring predictable maturation and high-quality bulb formation.

Who is this hybrid for?

If your business model relies on supplying processing plants, Mustang F1 is the optimal choice. It is not intended for long-term supermarket storage as a fresh produce vegetable; its true strength lies in density, high dry matter content, and resistance to soil-borne pathogens. By choosing this hybrid, you protect your crop against rot, effectively reducing the need for intensive fungicidal root treatments.
