Onion Sangro F1

A Dutch Standard for the Processing Industry

Sangro F1 onion from the breeding giant Bejo is a professional-grade solution for growers targeting deep processing, dehydration, or long-term storage cycles. As a long-day hybrid, it represents years of Dutch horticultural research, resulting in a variety capable of maintaining structural integrity and commercial quality under intensive production conditions.

Agronomic Profile and Resistance

The core strength of Sangro F1 lies in its robust resistance to root rot, specifically pink root (Pyrenochaeta terrestris). In modern intensive farming, where crop rotation is often restricted, such resilience is a critical factor in securing yields. The hybrid performs reliably in the field, producing round bulbs with dense, light-brown scales. With a dry matter content of 10–12%, the bulbs are perfectly suited for automated processing and industrial drying.

Storage Economics

For growers looking to supply the market during the winter and spring months, Sangro F1 offers an optimal storage window of 6–7 months under proper conditions. This reliability allows producers to hold inventory longer, waiting for favorable market cycles without compromising quality or yield. The bright white internal flesh and superior skin toughness ensure minimal waste during mechanical peeling, a trait highly valued by industrial processing facilities.
