Description BORODKOVSKIY
Onion variety Borodkovskiy is a mid-early domestic variety, created based on folk selection and developed at the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Crops Breeding and Seed Production. It is characterized by a round-flat bulb shape with dense yellow dry scales and juicy white inner layers. The variety is low-cloved, forming 1-2 bulbs per cluster, with a dry matter content of 12-15%, sugars of 9-12%, and about 7.6 mg% of vitamin C. The period from germination to harvest is 80-100 days when sown with seeds and 67-75 days when grown from sets.

Borodkovskiy onion is distinguished by high yield, reaching 9.7-15.4 t/ha when grown from seeds and 15-36.4 t/ha from sets. The yield and storability of this variety exceed the popular Stuttgarter Riesen variety. The onion has high maturity with a 91-100% index after ripening, which ensures its good preservation until the next harvest. The variety is resistant to diseases such as downy mildew, neck rot, and bacterial infection, making it a reliable choice for growing in the Central and Central Black Earth regions.

In addition to high productivity and resistance, Borodkovskiy onion is valued for its sharp taste and tender aromatic greens, which expands its application both fresh and in culinary processing. Due to these qualities, it is widely used in horticulture and agriculture, providing a stable and high-quality harvest. The variety is suitable for growing both from seeds and sets in a one-year crop, making it universal and convenient for various cultivation technologies.
