Description FAVORITE GRANDCHILD
Hybrid cucumber "Favorite Grandchild" is a fast-maturing parthenocarpic variety with predominantly female flowering and cluster fruiting with 3–4 fruits per node. The period from germination to fruiting is 40–45 days, allowing for an early harvest. The cucumbers have a short cylindrical shape, dark green color, and are 10–12 cm long with a weight of 90–110 g. The fruit surface is bumpy with frequent medium-sized bumps and white hairs. Due to its universal use, the cucumbers are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for pickling and marinating. The hybrid is resistant to several diseases, including true powdery mildew, olive spot, root rot, and exhibits tolerance to false powdery mildew. This ensures high yields, reaching 10.3–11.8 kg per square meter. The plant is medium-vined, with an extended fruiting period and high fruit marketability, making it attractive for cultivation both in open ground and in protected environments, including polyethylene and glass greenhouses. For planting, it is recommended to sow seeds for seedlings at the end of April – beginning of May, and transplant into the ground at the two- to three-true-leaf stage at the end of May – beginning of June under temporary polyethylene covers. Direct sowing into open ground is also possible at the end of May – beginning of June with an optimal soil temperature for germination of 25–30°C. The recommended planting scheme is 50x50 cm, which promotes good plant development and maximum yield.
