Mustard SVELTANKA

Mustard «Svetlanka»: Efficient Green Manure and Forage Solution

For agricultural enterprises focused on soil health and sustainable crop rotation, the «Svetlanka» mustard variety from NPSSSH «Sibirskie Maslo-semena» is a reliable and practical choice. Developed by a team of experts including Ivan Loshkomoynikov and Galina Kuznetsova, this variety is engineered to thrive in diverse environmental conditions while maintaining high performance as a soil improver.

Practical Applications

«Svetlanka» is primarily utilized for two specific purposes: as a green manure (siderate) and as forage. When used as a cover crop, it grows rapidly, effectively suppressing weeds and improving soil structure. Incorporating the green mass into the soil provides a substantial amount of organic matter, which is essential for nutrient restoration after heavy grain cropping.

Disease and Pest Resistance

The variety is specifically bred for durability, showing notable resistance to bacteriosis and the cruciferous flea beetle. This innate resilience allows farmers to minimize the application of chemical pesticides, aligning with both cost-reduction strategies and organic farming practices. The reduced need for chemical protection makes it a safer and more predictable choice for field rotations.
