Carrot Abaco F1 — an early hybrid of the Chantenay type, Dutch selection by Seminis, intended for cultivation in moderate climates, including the entire territory of Ukraine. The vegetative period is 90-95 days from planting to harvest. The hybrid is characterized by high yield, ranging from 5 to 10 kg per square meter depending on agronomic practices and growing conditions. Seeds exhibit high and uniform germination — up to 96% in loose and moist soils, ensuring even and rapid emergence. The plant is sensitive to soil acidity and prefers loose, moist areas with moderate lighting. For maximum yield, regular watering, thinning, mineral fertilization, and weed control are recommended.
The carrots of Abaco F1 have a conical shape with a slightly blunt and rounded tip, measuring 14-16 cm in length and 4-6 cm in diameter. The average weight of one root is 150-200 g, though it may reach up to 400 g. The skin is a bright, saturated orange color without green spots, giving the product an attractive and marketable appearance. The flesh is dense, crisp, moderately sweet with sugar content up to 8.5% and carotene content around 19 mg per 100 g of product. The core is compact and small, making the carrot convenient for fresh consumption and various culinary preparations. The fruits are resistant to cracking, splitting, and breakage, and the foliage is tightly attached, facilitating harvesting both manually and with specialized equipment.
The hybrid shows good resistance to major carrot diseases such as powdery mildew and alternaria, as well as tolerance to short-term cold snaps and frosts. The plant forms a strong, upright leafy canopy with well-developed foliage, promoting good photosynthesis and root development. Seeds are treated and ready for planting without additional preparation, simplifying planting preparation. Carrot Abaco F1 is suitable for early consumption, processing, and storage, demonstrating good storability even with summer plantings.
