YELLOW DRAGON

Momordica 'Yellow Dragon' is a climbing annual plant of the legume family that catches the eye with its bright decorativeness and exotic fruits. The leaves are palmately lobed, and against the backdrop of green foliage, light yellow flowers on long stalks and oblong fruits with a bumpy surface stand out.

The fruits reach a length of up to 23 cm and a weight of 300 to 400 g. In the early stages of growth, they have a greenish tint, gradually turning bright orange upon ripening. The fruit flesh is creamy with a slight bitter taste; around each seed is a juicy, sweet aril of dark ruby color. Young shoots and leaves can be used in salads or boiled for borscht and vegetable soups – all parts of the plant have healing properties.

'Yellow Dragon' is easy to grow both in open ground and in a greenhouse, cold frame, balcony, or windowsill. The plant requires support, good lighting, and regular watering, but does not require special fertilizers and is resistant to diseases and pests. Thanks to its decorative appeal and ease of care, this plant becomes an excellent element of garden, allotment, or home interior design.
