Description MAHITO
Mint «MAHITO» – a perennial aromatic herb from the Lamiaceae family, known for its bright lemon scent and flavor. The plant reaches a height of 50–60 cm, with leaves in an egg-shaped form with serrated edges, and flowers that are white or pale pink, collected in inflorescences.

The variety is distinguished by good cold hardiness and can be grown as an annual in open ground or as a perennial in one place for up to 10 years. For optimal growth, it requires sunlight and well-drained soil; when grown in protected ground, it requires illumination of 100–130 W/m² and a day length of 14–16 hours.

«MAHITO» is widely used as a nectar-producing plant, attracting pollinating insects, as well as an aromatic culinary culture. Leaves and young shoots are used in cooking – fresh or dried, as a seasoning for dishes and drinks, as well as in preparing fragrant tea. Yield of green mass from the second year is 3.1–4.5 kg/m², which makes it valuable for both home use and small commercial plantations.

For cultivation, seeds can be sown in the ground in the second half of May; seedlings are planted at an age of 40–45 days. When sowing in open ground, seedlings are thinned, and during the growing season, 2–3 green cuttings are made. Under home conditions, adult plants are usually grown in containers with a volume of 1.5–2 L on a substrate of agrovat, peat-perlite, or coconut-perlite; watering is carried out with a solution with EC not lower than 1.5 mS/cm.
