PURPLE CONEFLOWER

Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) – a perennial herbaceous plant of the aster family, distinguished by its vivid purple-pink flowers up to 9–10 cm in diameter and a bush height ranging from 60 to 110 cm. The bush is upright and dense, with brown stems and lance-shaped leaves of a rich green color. Flowering occurs in the summer – from June to August, with each bud opening as a large composite inflorescence.

All parts of the plant are rich in polysaccharides, essential oils, and echinacoside glycosides, making it a valuable medicinal material. Preparations based on echinacea extract have an immunostimulating effect: they enhance the body's natural defense forces in both adults and children with an undeveloped immune system, as well as in aging. Additionally, they exhibit antibacterial, antiviral, and antimycotic properties, making them useful in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.

For growing purple coneflower, it is recommended to sow seeds in spring – in March-April in a greenhouse or directly into open ground at temperatures of 13–17 °C. The plant prefers light places and moderate humidity but can also grow in partial shade. Due to its decorative qualities and medicinal properties, purple coneflower has become a popular choice both for garden compositions and for home cultivation for the purpose of obtaining natural immune support remedies.
