Light Star

Flax variety Light Star — a mid-season variety registered in the Ukrainian Plant Variety Register since 2015. It is characterized by a vegetation period of 86-87 days and distinct marker traits: white corolla petal coloration and yellow seed color. These features facilitate seed breeding and protect the breeder's rights. Plant height reaches 53-57 cm, and the 1000-seed mass is 9.0-9.5 g, indicating a large-seeded variety.

Light Star variety is distinguished by high yield and stability, making it one of the most productive varieties for cultivation in Ukraine. Potential yield is 2.0-2.5 t/ha. Seeds contain 48-50% oil with a high linolenic acid content — 68-70%, which is particularly valuable for flaxseed oil production. Moreover, the variety is highly technological: plants do not tend to lodge or shed, simplifying harvest and improving yield quality.

Recommended for cultivation in all soil-climate zones of Ukraine. Developed and produced by the Institute of Oilseed Crops of NAAN, this confirms its adaptability to local conditions and high quality. Thanks to its characteristics and stable productivity, this variety is an excellent choice for flaxseed oil agricultural production.
