KAOLIN

Linseed variety KAOLIN is a medium-maturing variety included in the State Register of Selection Achievements for the Volga Region. The vegetation period is 106 days, with average flowering onset. Plants have medium height of about 65 cm, with short-to-medium stem length and branching beginning at 17-20 cm. Flower corolla is pink in bud stage and turns purple upon full development. The seed capsule is small or medium-sized with fringed false septum, and seeds are light-brown. The variety is characterized by high resistance to lodging and adaptability to adverse weather conditions, as well as good disease tolerance and fusarium tolerance. Resistance to shattering is rated at 4.8 points, to drought — 3.0 points. During field trials in the region, no disease damage was observed. The 1000-seed mass is approximately 6.9 g, and oil content in seeds reaches 41.85%, with linolenic acid (Omega-3) content in oil at 59%. Maximum seed yield in the region reached 27.7 centners per hectare, significantly higher than the standard of 13.2 centners per hectare. KAOLIN is widely used for oil production, which is applied in the pharmaceutical industry, veterinary medicine, and food industry. Recommended sowing rate is 600-750 seeds per square meter, corresponding to 50-65 kg of seeds per hectare depending on seed quality. Plant density at harvest varies from 450 to 550 germinated plants per square meter. Due to high seed multiplication rate and superior quality characteristics, this variety is promising for cultivation in the Volga Region.
