BOOTUR – a variety of the jointed brome Psathyrostachys juncea, diploid and upright bush with numerous stems. The plant reaches a height of 110–150 cm, has a medium bush density (50–85 stems per bush) and moderate bushiness of about 45%. The leaves are green, soft, hairless, and waxy-free; the ligule is short and pointed. The flag leaf is linear and of medium length. The inflorescence is straw-yellow, of medium length and density, awnless, and the seeds are narrowly lanceolate and light gray.
The variety is characterized by high green mass yield: on average over three years, it amounted to 3.2–3.6 t/ha. The crude protein content in dry matter reaches 12%, which is 10–15% higher than that of the standard Bootur. BOOTUR has good drought resistance, winter hardiness, and salt tolerance, as well as forms a powerful basal rosette, ensuring long-term development of pasture agrophytocenoses even on degraded soils.
The variety is suitable for use as a green cover and greening of areas. It grows well with moderate irrigation and regular fertilization, and also withstands temperature fluctuations due to resistance to diseases and pests. BOOTUR is a popular choice among gardeners and farmers seeking a reliable source of green feed with high nutritional value.
