PRAIBOY is a variety of flax (Linum usitatissimum L. f. elongata) intended for the production of flax fiber. Plants of this variety are mid-early maturing, with stem height ranging from 63 to 80 cm and a long stem. Flowers have a blue-violet color in the bud stage, which turns blue upon full development. Seeds are brown, with the mass of 1000 seeds ranging from 5.1 to 5.8 g. The vegetative period varies from 70 to 93 days depending on the growing region. The variety is characterized by good resistance to lodging and seed shattering, as well as medium resistance to rust and fusarium wilt.
PRAIBOY demonstrates high yield both in terms of straw and seeds. In the North-West region, straw yield reaches 39.6 c/ha, and seed yield is 4.4 c/ha, exceeding standard indicators. In the Volga-Vyatka region, straw yield is 53.5 c/ha, and seed yield is 7.8 c/ha. The total fiber content in the plant reaches 23.1-28.8%, and the yield of long fiber is 16.8-17.3%. The relative tensile strength of the fiber is within the range of 18.2-19.6 gcf/tex, indicating high quality of raw materials.
