Flax Albion

Field performance: Dealing with Albion Flax

Albion, developed by the Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS, is designed for those who value operational stability over experimental risks. This variety fits well into standard crop rotations and performs reliably across various soil types in Ukraine.

Agronomic handling and growth cycle

With a maturity cycle of 90–120 days, Albion allows for precise planning of field operations. In practice, the variety demonstrates uniform maturation, which is a major advantage for the operator during harvesting. You avoid the "patchwork field" effect where uneven ripening creates headaches during combining. This consistency ensures that harvest loss is kept to a minimum and machine settings remain stable throughout the job.

Yield potential and machine efficiency

A potential yield of 1.5–2 t/ha is a realistic target for intensive farming. Albion’s resistance to lodging is a significant benefit for field management, allowing for faster harvesting speeds and reducing mechanical stress on equipment. Because the crop remains upright and uniform, it simplifies the header adjustments and ensures cleaner grain delivery to the hopper.

• Versatile application: Suitable for both fiber production and as an oilseed crop.
• Operational ease: Uniform ripening ensures smoother harvesting and faster work pace.
• Regional adaptation: Specifically bred for local climatic conditions, ensuring a predictable growth cycle year after year.
