Victorinus

Victorinus salad is a semi-heading lettuce type Romaine, developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. This variety is characterized by strong growth and vertical development, forming a compact head weighing about 450 grams with dense, wavy dark green leaves and clearly visible veins. The leaves have an attractive "glowing" green color, and the underside of the head is covered with straight leaf veins, giving the plant a neat and aesthetic appearance.

Victorinus is successfully cultivated both in open ground and under cover, with planting periods from March to August. The growing period is 65-70 days. The variety shows high resistance to common lettuce diseases such as green aphid, downy mildew, false powdery mildew, and internal necrosis. In addition, it tolerates hot weather and can withstand slight frosts down to -5 degrees. Thanks to its resistance to bolting, the lettuce maintains its market appearance even during hot months. After harvest, new growth appears on the plants within a month, allowing for multiple harvests per season.

Victorinus lettuce is valued for its pleasant nutty flavor and versatility in use — it is excellent for salad mixes and pairs well with meat dishes. Heads are well-transported and can be stored in warehouses for up to 28 days without loss of quality. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to follow basic agronomic practices: timely watering, weed control, and fertilization. The optimal temperature for seed germination in seedlings is +16-17 degrees, and the planting density should be 8-10 plants per square meter.
