Tuccadona

Tuccadona salad (Tuccadona) is an early variety of loose-leaf lettuce type Romaine, developed by the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan. This variety features a vigorous, fast-growing plant with a large, dense head weighing about 500 grams. The leaves have a tender texture and a rich dark green color, giving the product an attractive appearance and excellent taste. Tuccadona lettuce is suitable for cultivation both outdoors and under cover, using either seedling transplanting or direct sowing into the soil during summer and autumn. The vegetation period ranges from 35 to 60 days depending on growing conditions, enabling an early harvest. Recommended planting density varies from 8-10 plants per square meter for whole heads and up to 13-14 plants per square meter for forming lettuce "hearts". The variety exhibits high resistance to common diseases such as downy mildew, as well as pests including green aphids. Additionally, Tuccadona shows resistance to tip burn and adapts well to stressful growing conditions. Tuccadona lettuce is valued for its excellent transportability and long storage life, making it convenient for distribution and use. It is primarily used fresh, but also suitable for processing. The green color and dense structure of the heads ensure its versatility in culinary applications. Seeds are packaged in plastic containers of 50 grams (approximately 5000 seeds) and belong to the first quality class.
