Lettuce Ruby

Breeding Heritage and Market Positioning

The 'Rubin' lettuce variety is a product of long-term breeding collaboration between major agricultural research centers in Russia, including the Poisk Agrofirm and the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Production. The variety has established itself in the leafy greens segment, favored by both professional farmers and home gardeners who prioritize reliability over experimental novelty.

Morphology and Agronomy

The plant produces a medium-sized, semi-upright rosette. Its visual profile is defined by a deep, dark red color that transitions into green at the base, making it a staple for premium fresh-cut mixes and culinary garnishing. The flexibility in maturity—ranging from early to mid-season—allows growers to manage production cycles efficiently across different climate zones.

• Type: Standard lettuce variety suitable for open field and greenhouse cultivation.
• Mass: The medium weight of the rosette ensures ease of harvesting and portioned retail packaging.
• Reliability: The selection process has been specifically adapted to regional climate risks, ensuring resilience against light-cycle instability.

The reputation of the 'Rubin' variety is rooted in its consistency. It is notably resistant to premature bolting under standard agronomic care, which is a critical trait for maintaining quality throughout the growing season. This variety represents an optimal choice for producers seeking a stable, high-quality crop without the dependency on high-input imported hybrids.
