Lettuce CRUCANTE

Italian heritage in every leaf: the «Crocante» lettuce

In the competitive world of leafy greens, the «Crocante» variety by La Societa Delle Scienze Umane S.R.L. stands out for those prioritizing a buttery texture and consistent quality. This butterhead lettuce variety represents a balanced approach to modern horticulture, designed for growers who value both yield reliability and superior culinary characteristics.

Core features and agronomic profile

• Texture and culinary appeal: Unlike crispy iceberg varieties, «Crocante» offers a smooth, buttery texture. Its leaves are tender yet hold their structure, making them perfect for refined salad mixes.
• Visual identity: The light green color adds a fresh, vibrant aesthetic to retail displays, which is highly appreciated by chefs and consumers alike.
• Growth parameters: With a mid-range maturation period and optimal average head weight, this variety provides predictable harvesting cycles, essential for efficient farm management.

Pros and cultivation insights

The primary strength of the «Crocante» variety lies in its delicate flavor profile, free from bitterness. This makes it a versatile choice for premium vegetable markets and the HoReCa segment. However, because of its buttery nature, «Crocante» requires careful handling during harvest and logistics to maintain the integrity of its tender leaves. For growers aiming for quality over quantity, it provides a unique product that stands out against generic mass-market lettuce.

Choosing this variety from La Societa Delle Scienze Umane S.R.L. means betting on stability and elegance. It is an excellent fit for farms looking to diversify their portfolio with a high-end, classic-style butterhead lettuce.
