Fennel variety 'Cazanova' is a mid-season type, 50-70 cm in height, with lacey feathered leaves and a dense head weighing 100-150 g. The head has a characteristic anise aroma and original taste, making it a popular seasoning both fresh and dried.
The plant's yield is from 1.2 to 1.5 kg per square meter, and the ripening period is 50-60 days. Seeds are sown at the end of April-May at a depth of 1 cm or at the end of summer (August-September) with a row spacing of 40 cm and within the row of 20 cm. A packet usually contains about 25 seeds.
Cazanova is valued for its hardiness to growing conditions and a wide range of beneficial properties: antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory action, stimulation of cholagogue and diuretic functions, as well as aiding digestion. Thanks to these characteristics, the plant is widely used in home cooking as an aromatic seasoning and in food processing.
