The 'UDALAYA' hay variety is a mid-season type characterized by high yield and resistance to unfavorable conditions. The plant is erect, dense, stands 100–120 cm tall, and has medium bushiness. The leaves are lanceolate, soft, and light green, while the harvest index reaches 43%. The panicle is awnless and gray in color; seeds are of medium size and also gray.
The key advantages of the variety are its drought resistance, lodging resistance, and resistance to diseases and pests. Over the growing period, which lasts 113 days, the plant maintains high productivity: absolute dry matter reaches 10.1 t/ha, and seeds – 2.2 t/ha. Crude protein content in green mass is up to 13%.
'UDALAYA' was developed by individual selection of early-maturing, morphologically uniform plants from the VIR collection sample K-75, ensuring yield stability and uniformity. Thanks to its characteristics, the variety is suitable for a wide range of climatic zones and soils, providing a reliable source of fodder mass under high demands on agricultural resources.
