Udalets is a fennel variety suitable for both protected and open ground. It differs in its resistance to aging, which makes it convenient to grow even under adverse conditions. The plant reaches a height of 55–60 cm, has an erect stem, green color, and strong foliage.
A feature of the variety is the sweet and aromatic taste, especially pronounced in the white juicy sheaths of the lower leaves, which form what is called the "bulb". These parts of the plant are widely used in cooking: they are used in salads, boiled, dried. In addition, you can prepare stewed "cabbages", as well as use leaves, shoots and root.
Udalets is characterized by good yield – 1.1–1.2 kg/m² with proper care: regular weeding, loosening, watering and top dressing with complex mineral fertilizers. It is recommended to sow in rows with a distance of 7–10 cm between plants and 15–20 cm between rows. This fennel is suitable for both fresh consumption and drying, as well as can serve as a spicy-flavoring additive to soups, meat dishes and vegetables.
