Fennel UDALETS

Reliable Production of Culinary Fennel

The 'Udalets' variety, developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing, is tailored for growers focusing on market-grade quality and distinct flavor profiles. The light-green heads and a characteristic sweet taste make this variety a preferred choice for the fresh market and culinary professionals who demand consistent results.

Field Management and Application

Agricultural producers incorporate this variety into their rotation to meet specific market demands, focusing on the following operational benefits:

• Culinary Appeal: The crunchy texture and naturally sweet notes make it a staple ingredient for upscale restaurant menus and specialized salad production.
• Supply Chain Efficiency: The variety retains its marketable appearance throughout transport, which is essential for wholesale distribution channels.
• Intensive Cultivation: 'Udalets' responds well to precision irrigation systems, which are vital for developing the target bulb size and juicy texture.

Success with 'Udalets' relies on steady moisture management, as water stress is the primary limiting factor for bulb density. The variety thrives in nutrient-rich soil and benefits from adequate spacing to ensure uniform head development. Growers are advised to monitor planting dates closely to avoid temperature extremes that might trigger premature bolting, ensuring that the harvested product meets all premium quality standards for the intended market.
