Surge-petunia NOTA – a spring non-erucic type (type 0) variety intended for cultivation as green mass and cover crop. Plants reach a height of about 85 cm, and seed mass is 4.0 g per 1000 seeds.
The variety is characterized by high lodging resistance – 5 points on the scale, as well as good resistance to shattering and drought (4 points each). Seed yield fluctuates within 7.7–16.2 c/ha, and green mass yield ranges from 76 to 148 c/ha. Seed oil content is 37.4%, with erucic acid content in oil limited to 0.05% and glucosinolates in meal at 16.7 µmol/g.
Surge-petunia NOTA demonstrates above-average resistance to cruciferous flea beetle, and according to the applicant, no disease damage has been observed. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety is suitable for effective use in agro-technical schemes where both the biological value of green mass and stable seed yield are important.
