The «GOLDEN» rapeseed variety is a perennial plant growing 30 to 80 cm tall, characterized by bright yellow flowers and dense racemose inflorescences. The leaves feature a lyrate-pinnate lower part with a large rounded-oval terminal lobe and sessile upper leaves shaped like egg-shaped leaves with a notched-toothed margin. The fruits are straight or slightly bent pods, cylindrical and four-sided, pointing obliquely upwards. The plant germinates rapidly at temperatures from 6 to 40 °C, grows optimally at 18–20 °C, and the best sowing depth is 0.5 cm.
«GOLDEN» boasts high seed yield – averaging 9.5 c/ha, with the mass of 1000 seeds being 2.3 g. The oil content of the seeds reaches 43.6–47%, while protein content in the green mass is 24.8%. The variety is resistant to lodging, drought, and shattering, and is only slightly affected by cruciferous flea beetles. Thanks to these properties, it is suitable both for oil production and forage purposes.
The plant is easily propagated by seeds and root suckers. In the first year of life, a leaf rosette with a well-developed taproot is formed, which overwinters. After fruiting, the above-ground parts die off, and a new flowering stem emerges from the root collar each spring. This makes «GOLDEN» convenient for multi-year cultivation in agriculture and endows it with resilience to changing climatic conditions.
