Potato variety Sprinter is an early-maturing table variety that matures within 60-75 days. The plant is of medium height (50-60 cm) with a semi-upright habit and intermediate leaf type, medium-sized green leaves. Flowers have weak red-purple corolla coloration with no or very weak anthocyanin pigmentation on the inner side. Tubers are elongated-oval with small eyes, yellow skin, light-yellow flesh, containing 12-16% starch, which ensures good taste and excellent culinary qualities.
The variety is characterized by high market yield, reaching 171-310 c/ha, significantly exceeding the yields of standard varieties such as Carmen and Goryanka. Maximum yield can reach 405 c/ha, which is 117 c/ha higher than the standard Red Scarlett. Marketable tuber mass ranges from 98 to 160 grams, marketability is about 81.9%, and storability reaches 95%, indicating good tuber preservation during storage. The variety is resistant to mechanical damage, facilitating transportation and storage.
Potato Sprinter exhibits high resistance to a range of diseases and pests. It is resistant to potato cancer pathogen, golden potato cyst nematode, as well as leaf curl and mosaic. According to phytopathological studies, the variety is moderately susceptible to late blight on stems and tubers. Due to its resistance and adaptability, the variety is suitable for cultivation on all soil types and is recommended for cultivation in the Central, Volga-Vyatka, Central Chernozem, and North Caucasus regions.
