Riviera potato is an ultraprecoce, high-yielding table variety of Dutch origin, suitable for cultivation in various regions including Ukraine. It is distinguished by its early maturity: the first tubers can be harvested as early as 35-55 days after planting. The tubers are oval-shaped, with smooth, light-yellow skin and yellowish flesh with excellent taste. The average weight of tubers is 100-180 grams, and about 17 tubers form per plant. This variety does not break down during cooking and retains its color, making it ideal for frying, baking, mashing, first courses, and vegetable salads. Riviera exhibits high resistance to major potato diseases such as late blight, scab, bacterial rot, viral infections, and potato cancer. The variety is also heat-tolerant and withstands washing and transportation, which is especially important for commercial cultivation. Yield potential reaches up to 450 centners per hectare, and due to intensive accumulation of marketable yield before late blight appears, it allows for stable and high-quality harvests. For optimal storage, controlled application of nitrogen fertilizers is recommended. Cultivation of Riviera requires seed tuber sprouting, regular hilling, watering during dry periods, and protection against pests and diseases. The variety is suitable for cultivation under plastic film, enabling early harvests, and in southern regions, double harvests are possible. Due to its excellent taste, versatility, and long storage life without quality loss, Riviera potato is in demand both for home use and commercial production.
