Description HOUSEKEEPER
The Housekeeper potato variety is a mid-season Russian table-type variety developed by specialists of the Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture. It is characterized by high yield, ranging from 178 to 355 centners per hectare, as well as resistance to various diseases, including late blight, golden nematode, and potato cancer. The tubers of this variety are large, oval-round, with red skin and creamy or white flesh, giving them an attractive appearance and high marketability — from 87 to 97 percent. Due to its good mashability and absence of flesh darkening, the Housekeeper potato is ideal for making mashed potatoes, as well as for processing into chips and French fries.

The variety is versatile and adapted to various climatic conditions, allowing it to be grown in southern, central, and Siberian regions of Russia. It is resistant to sharp temperature fluctuations, heat, and cold, making it suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses. Potatoes grow well on sandy and loamy soils with the addition of black earth, especially after long-term grasses, legumes, flax, or tomatoes. For optimal root development, it is recommended to maintain loose soil and avoid compacted areas.

For planting the Housekeeper variety, a scheme of 35x60 cm with a planting depth of no more than 9 cm is recommended. Tubers should be planted in May, ensuring good rooting and plant development. Due to its characteristics and versatility, this variety has gained widespread popularity among home gardeners and industrial producers, being a reliable choice for obtaining high-quality and flavorful potatoes.
