EDISON

Edison potato is a mid-early table variety with elongated-oval tubers weighing from 105 to 208 grams. The tuber skin is yellow, and the flesh is light-yellow, giving them an attractive appearance. Starch content in the tubers ranges from 13.7% to 15.4%, ensuring good taste and making this variety suitable for various culinary purposes, including French fry production. Tubers are characterized by high marketability — from 84% to 90% — and storability reaching 93%, indicating good storage durability.

Edison plants are tall with semi-erect forms and large green leaves. The flower is large with intense anthocyanin coloring on the inner side, which is one of the distinguishing features of this variety. The variety is distinguished by high yield — from 198 to 431 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 492 centners, significantly exceeding the standards of many other varieties.

Edison is resistant to several diseases and pests, including potato late blight pathogen, golden potato cyst nematode, and PVY Y virus. Additionally, the variety is resistant to leaf curling, which helps maintain plant health and stable yields. Thanks to these characteristics and high tuber quality, the Edison variety is an excellent choice for cultivation in Central and Central Chernozem regions.
