Iris Marriott

Stability and Aesthetics: Why «Marriott» is a Landscaping Favorite

In the world of breeding, the «Marriott» iris occupies a niche of reliable, medium-tall plants perfectly adapted to the Ukrainian climate. With a flowering stem height of 70–90 cm, this iris maintains a strong vertical habit without requiring staking in open ground. This is its key advantage over many large-flowered hybrids that often lodge under their own weight during rain or heavy winds.

Technical Potential and Growth Characteristics

The main strength of this variety is its predictable development. In professional landscaping, «Marriott» is valued for:

• Optimal dimensions, making it suitable for both middle-tier floral arrangements and as a solitary feature along garden paths.
• High density of the root rosette, which remains visually appealing even after the flowering phase ends.
• Adaptability to various soil types, provided that root aeration is maintained.

Despite its high vigor, it is important to remember that, like all bearded irises, this variety does not tolerate waterlogging. If your site is located in a low-lying area with heavy clay soil, a drainage layer or planting on raised beds will be necessary. This is a small price to pay for the visual impact «Marriott» provides during its peak bloom.

Who is this variety for?

«Marriott» is an ideal solution for municipal landscaping services and private garden owners seeking a balance between beauty and low maintenance. It requires minimal intervention while providing consistent results year after year. If you are planning a massive planting that looks neat without requiring daily attention, this iris will be your most reliable asset.
