Iris "Andrey Knyazevov" – a representative of the Bearded group, known for its compact height ranging from 60 to 90 centimeters and a short-branched scape. The plant is distinguished by its dense, abundant foliage, which grows quickly, creating a dense structure composed of several small bushes. The scape typically contains from five to nine bright flowers, each with a diameter of 10–12 centimeters.
Flowers of this variety possess a rich aroma and a characteristic color pattern: a light brown background with brownish-red veins. Outer segments of the perianth are semi-drooping, inner ones slightly ruffled, giving the bouquet an elegant appearance. Blooming begins in mid-June and lasts for approximately 13 days, providing bright decorative effect for almost two weeks.
Iris "Andrey Knyazevov" was created by G.I. Rodionenko in 1960 and included in the Russian Federation state register in 1994. It is widely represented in botanical garden collections, including the Moscow State University Botanical Garden on Vorobyovy Gory. Due to its versatility and resistance to various climatic conditions, this variety is suitable both for decorative greening of urban courtyards and for private gardens.
