Post-emergence systemic herbicide for controlling annual broadleaf and perennial root sprouting weeds (including species of docks and burdock, mustard, species of daisy, dandelion, etc.) on agricultural crop fields.
Compatibility with other products:
LONTREL®-300 can be mixed with grass-specific herbicides, as well as other herbicides used against annual broadleaf weeds, fungicides, insecticides, plant growth regulators, and liquid fertilizers. Before preparing the working solution in mixtures with other products, it is recommended to test the physical compatibility of the products in a small container. Observe the application guidelines and recommendations for all products in the mixture.
Duration of protective effect of the product:
LONTREL®-300 controls sensitive weed species that emerged during treatment throughout the entire vegetation season.
Speed of action of the product:
Weed growth suppression occurs within several hours after application. The first visible symptoms of the product's action become noticeable within 12–18 hours. Leaves of sensitive plants turn chlorotic within 1–2 weeks, after which the growth point dies. The product shows rainfastness within 1 hour after application.
Phytotoxicity: the product does not exhibit phytotoxic effects.
Potential for resistance development: resistance does not occur.
Recommendations for protecting beneficial flora and fauna:
Low toxicity to mammals (LD50 > 4195 mg/kg). Does not irritate skin. Practically non-toxic to birds (LD50 > 2000 mg/kg), non-toxic to fish (LC50 for fish = 103.5 mg/l). Approved for use in sanitary zones around fishery water bodies. Practically non-toxic to bees (LD50 > 100 μg/bee). The product belongs to class 3 (low hazard) for bees. The following ecological regulations must be observed:
— application on flowering entomophilous crops and any fields or areas with flowering weeds (>3 plants per 1 m²) during active bee flight periods and subsequent bee visits to treated agricultural areas and territories before the established time limit.
— treatments should be conducted during morning or evening hours, daytime applications are allowed only on cloudy, cool days when bees do not fly out of hives.
— apply treatments when wind speed is up to 4–5 m/sec;
— bee protection buffer zone — not less than 2–3 km;
— bee flight restriction — 3–4 hours.
Hazard class: 3 (moderately hazardous compound). Moderately toxic to mammals. Requirements and precautions according to SanPiN 1.2.1077-01.
Method of application
Weed spectrum:
LONTREL®-300 is a highly effective systemic herbicide against perennial and annual weeds belonging to the Asteraceae, Boraginaceae, Solanaceae families, as well as some species of the Polygonaceae family.
Examples of weed species sensitive to LONTREL®-300: Ambrosia artemisiifolia, field dock (red dock), flatleaf fleabane, blue fleabane, field vetch, rough burnet, common agrimony, field lettuce, field plantain, garden dock, yellow dock, self-seeding sunflower, field chickweed, medicinal chamomile, odorless chamomile, ornamental chrysanthemum, milkweed, etc.
Recommendations for improving the effectiveness of the product:
The optimal ambient temperature for applying the product ranges from +8°C to +25°C. Avoid application before or immediately after frost. Spray when weeds are actively growing: 2–10 leaves for annuals and 10–15 cm (‘rosette’) for perennial root sprouting weeds. A lower registered dosage can be applied for moderate weed infestation by docks in the ‘rosette’ stage. In cases of high infestation and more developed dock plants, as well as the presence of mustard in the crop, the higher registered dosage should be used.
Mode of action of the product: the active ingredient LONTREL®-300 — cloquinalid — disrupts growth processes in plants. As a synthetic form of a natural plant hormone, cloquinalid, when applied as a herbicide, replaces natural plant hormones, thereby blocking their functions. This leads to an overaccumulation of synthetic hormones, which ultimately results in significant disruptions of growth processes in plants and their subsequent death. Cloquinalid rapidly penetrates the plant root system, ensuring high efficacy against root sprouting weeds such as docks.
Symptoms of action of the product:
Thickened, bent, and twisted stems and leaves, crinkled leaves, cracks on stems. Environmental conditions affecting plant growth and development also influence the speed of active ingredient movement within the plant. Adverse weather conditions may delay symptom manifestation but do not affect the final efficacy of the product.
Selectivity of action: when used at the recommended rates and timing, the herbicide LONTREL®-300 is not phytotoxic to regulated crops.
Preparation of the working solution:
The working solution is prepared immediately before spraying. Before preparing the working solution, the product should be thoroughly mixed in the factory packaging. Fill 1/3 of the sprayer tank with water. Add the required amount of product, calculated for one fill of the sprayer, and turn on the mixer. Fill with water to the full volume and mix the resulting solution. Rinse the empty container several times with water and pour the rinse water into the sprayer tank. Preparation of the working solution and filling the sprayer should be carried out on designated areas that will later be decontaminated. The recommended working solution rate is 300–400 L/ha. To prevent clogging of sprayers, it is recommended to use clean water. For maximum efficacy, the product should be evenly applied to the leaf surface of plants using a properly calibrated sprayer. It is recommended to use hollow nozzles that produce medium-sized droplets during spraying. The working solution should be used within several hours of preparation. Do not leave the working solution in the sprayer tank overnight. After completing work, the sprayer and associated equipment should be rinsed with water.
Crop rotation restrictions:
none. Cloquinalid undergoes rapid microbial decomposition in soil. Therefore, any crop can be grown on the same field the following year after application. In case of crop replanting in the year of application (e.g., due to frost, drought, disease, etc.), after plowing, crops such as cereals, corn, rapeseed, mustard, cabbage, flax can be grown on the same field.
