VERA is an early-maturing sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) variety distinguished by stable yields and resistance to lodging. The plant reaches a height of 55–65 cm, features a simple stem, and bears a straight or slightly curved pod 6–9 cm long and 1.2–1.4 cm wide, containing 6–8 seeds. At technical maturity, the peas remain green and uniform in size, making them ideal for both fresh consumption and canning.
The variety is characterized by early maturation – 48–63 days from full germination to technical maturity. This allows for spring sowing planning: sow at a depth of 4–6 cm, spacing plants at 15×30 cm intervals and providing support. Plants prefer sunny locations and well-drained soil, as well as regular watering and attention to disease and pest prevention.
Sweet pea VERA is an annual climbing plant of the legume family, native to southern Italy and Sicily. Its branched shoots easily attach to supports, while flowers are arranged in loose racemes with petals in lavender or other shades, adding a fragrant look to the garden. Thanks to stable yield (0.7–1.2 kg/m²) and good taste qualities, this variety is popular among gardeners wishing to obtain fresh produce over a short period after sowing.
