Hairy Vetch is a valuable forage crop of the legume family, widely used in agriculture due to its high protein content in green plant parts.
The plant prefers neutral soils and can grow in meadows as well as in sparse forests. The optimal sowing rate is 100–150 kg/ha, at which plant height reaches 60–70 cm, and green mass – 40–50 t/ha. Hay yield is usually in the range of 12 to 15 t/ha.
Hairy Vetch is also valued as a honey plant and is used in phytotherapy. In landscape design, the plant attracts attention due to stems up to 50 cm high and large bright pink flowers, which makes it a popular element of decorative plantings.
