Sapphire F1 Eggplant — an innovative mid-early variety distinguished by its dark purple fruits and dense white flesh with a greenish tint, free of bitterness. Plants grow to a height of 60–70 cm and produce 6–8 fruits weighing 180–190 g each. The variety is well-adapted to adverse environmental conditions, ensuring stable yield formation.
The variety has high yield: in open ground, it reaches 36 tons per hectare, and in plastic greenhouses — 11.9 kg per square meter, which exceeds standard indicators by 15–30%. The fruits have excellent taste qualities and are suitable for processing and canning.
Cultivation agronomy includes sowing seedlings in late February–early March with transplanting at the one- to two-true-leaf stage. Seedlings are transplanted under plastic cover in mid-May and into open ground in early June using a planting scheme of 60x40 cm. By the end of July, 5–6 large fruit buds are retained on each plant, while the rest are removed to improve fruit quality. The variety was developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences.
