Currant Symphony

Professional cultivation of blackcurrant variety 'Symphony'

Developed by the L.P. Simirenko Institute of Pomology, 'Symphony' is a blackcurrant variety designed to meet the rigorous demands of commercial fruit farming in Ukraine. It offers a balanced maturity profile and a high degree of adaptability to standard agronomic practices.

Key agrotechnical advantages

The primary benefit of the 'Symphony' variety is its robust genetic resistance to key fungal diseases, namely anthracnose, septoria, and powdery mildew. In a commercial setting, this translates directly into reduced pressure on chemical protection programs. By minimizing the frequency of fungicide applications, growers can lower production costs and satisfy the growing market demand for lower-residue produce.

Operational utility in the field

• Suitability for mechanization: The moderately spreading bush architecture is well-suited for machine harvesting, facilitating efficient operations on large-scale plantations.
• Harvest management: With a maturation period of 45–55 days from bud break, this mid-season variety helps optimize labor scheduling, allowing for a structured and predictable harvest flow.
• Market performance: The black berries possess the structural integrity required for both fresh market sales and efficient industrial processing or freezing, ensuring versatility in supply chains.

For agricultural producers, 'Symphony' represents a low-risk, high-reward choice that combines reliable yield potential with simplified disease management, making it a cornerstone for professional blackcurrant production.
