Nizhynskiy Dar

Ogurts Nizhynskiy Dar — a mid-season variety with long vines, reaching up to 2 meters in length. The fruits have a long-oval shape, dark green color, and large bumps, measuring 9-12 cm in length and weighing about 90-140 grams. The flesh is crisp, juicy, and has a distinct cucumber aroma, making this variety one of the best for pickling and preserving. Cucumbers retain their crispness and flavor in brine for many years without losing their qualities.

The variety shows good resistance to fungal diseases and is fairly drought-tolerant, requiring no excessive watering. To prevent fungal diseases, it is recommended to grow vines on trellises. Nizhynskiy Dar is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses, and is pollinated by bees. The period from mass seedlings emergence to the start of fruiting is about 46 days, and fruiting continues for 42 days.

For successful cultivation, medium loamy, well-drained soils are required. Good predecessors include potatoes, onions, cabbage, and peppers. Seeds are sown into soil warmed to 14-15 degrees Celsius at a depth of 2-3 cm, and seedlings are recommended to be covered with plastic film. For seedlings, seeds are sown at a depth of 1.5-2 cm at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, then the temperature is reduced to 15 degrees Celsius after germination. Care includes weeding, loosening, watering with warm water after sunset, and 2-3 feedings with complex mineral fertilizers to ensure full nutrition for the plants.
