Cress «Zabava» – an annual herbaceous plant grown throughout the year. It is noted for its high cold resistance and rapid maturation: the period between full germination and commercial readiness is 25–30 days.
To obtain fresh greens, sowing seeds in batches is recommended every two weeks. Seeds should be sown at a depth of 1.5–2 cm, with a distance between rows from 10 to 30 cm; 0.6–0.8 g of seeds are needed per square meter. Cress «Zabava» grows easily in various soils and does not require special conditions.
The plant's leaves have a length of 11–18 cm and a width of 3–4 cm, with an elongated-oval shape and pinnatifid edges. Each leaf blade is 20–30 cm high and 8–10 cm in diameter, with 7–8 leaves per plant. The leaves are rich in vitamins, iron, iodine, and potassium, have a pleasant slightly sharp taste reminiscent of horseradish, and are used in salads and as a seasoning for meat dishes.
