Corn PAN 240 is a mid-late maturity grain hybrid with FAO 240, recommended for cultivation in Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polесье climatic zones. Plants are tall, reaching 230-240 cm in height, with strong stems and deep roots, providing high resistance to lodging. The lower ear is positioned 100-110 cm above ground, has a cylindrical shape 21-23 cm long, and contains 14-16 rows of light yellow-orange dent kernels. The 1000-kernel weight is 260-270 g, and grain yield per ear reaches 83-84%.
The hybrid exhibits intensive grain moisture loss during the final maturation stage, which helps reduce grain moisture content and lowers costs associated with drying for storage. Potential biological yield, when agronomic practices are followed, reaches 130-135 ц/ha. Corn PAN 240 has good cold tolerance and resistance to adverse temperatures (7 out of 10), as well as high drought resistance (8 out of 10). However, the hybrid poorly withstands prolonged delays and is not suitable for winter storage.
PAN 240 is suitable for intensive farming technologies and can be used both for grain production and as a forage crop. The plant does not tiller, has a red ear stalk, and demonstrates high resistance to major diseases and pests. Despite moderate heat and drought tolerance, the hybrid requires careful monitoring of growing conditions, especially during the late vegetative stage, when high temperatures may negatively affect yield.
