P 9985 is a simple, mid-season, two-line corn hybrid with a vegetative period of approximately 112 days. Plants have medium to high height, narrow leaves with rounded tips and a small angle between leaf blade and stem. The ear is weakly conical, medium length and diameter, medium to thick, with a short stalk. The kernel is intermediate type, closer to dent, colored in yellow-orange shades, with strong anthocyanin pigmentation of the cob. The hybrid has high grain moisture (about 21.4%) and medium kernel density.
P 9985 exhibits high drought resistance and high water shedding, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones, including Polissia, Forest Steppe, and Steppe. The hybrid is resistant to southern helminthosporiosis, but is susceptible to bacterial and Fusarium ear diseases, as well as stalk borer damage. Despite this, it shows good yield potential: average regional yield is approximately 59.8–69.6 c/ha, with maximum yields reaching 108.4 c/ha.
Hybrid P 9985 is recommended for grain use and ethanol production. Its universal application and high adaptability to various growing conditions make it an attractive choice for farmers. Seeds are supplied in 80,000 seed bags, ensuring ease of planting and planning of sowing areas.
