Agronomic Profile of Cabelo Hybrid

Cabelo (F1) is an intensive French maize hybrid designed for high-yield production. Officially registered in Ukraine in 2026, it requires precise adherence to agronomic practices to maximize its genetic potential.

Sowing Strategy and Plant Density

Sowing should commence when soil temperatures reach +10...+12°C. Cabelo responds well to early planting, provided the seedbed is well-prepared. Recommended plant densities at harvest vary by region:

• Polissya: 80,000–85,000 plants/ha.
• Forest-Steppe: 70,000–75,000 plants/ha.
• Steppe: 60,000–65,000 plants/ha.

Nutrient Management and Crop Care

Nitrogen management is crucial during the V6–V8 growth stages, as this is when the ear potential is established. A split application of fertilizers is recommended: the bulk of the nitrogen should be applied during pre-sowing cultivation, followed by side-dressing in early vegetative stages.

While Cabelo is efficient in water utilization during the critical tasseling and silking stages, it requires careful monitoring for root rot on lighter soil types. Fungicide application at the V8–V10 stage is highly recommended to protect the leaf canopy, which is essential for optimal grain filling and final yield stability.
