Maize GROVIX

Energy Potential of the 'Grovix' Hybrid

The 'Grovix' hybrid from Henex Ukraine is a specialized mid-early maize variety focused not on grain for sale, but on the production of high-energy forage and industrial raw materials. With a vegetation period of 110–120 days, this hybrid demonstrates stable biomass output, a critical factor for companies engaged in renewable energy generation.

Technical Specifications and Morphology

• Hybrid type: simple. This design ensures crop uniformity, which is essential for even maturation of silage mass.
• Grain type: dent. The choice of dent corn is driven by the optimal balance between moisture release rates and the accumulation of dry matter.
• Starch content: 72%. This is a key metric for bioethanol and biogas production, where yield depends directly on carbohydrate availability in the ear's grain fraction.

The breeding work conducted by the originators (Savchenko S.P., Shapoval M.V., et al.) focused on creating a crop with high adaptability to Ukrainian soil and climatic conditions. Given its designated uses—silage, bioethanol, and biogas—this hybrid is optimized for the maximum yield of methane and ethanol per hectare. Unlike universal grain hybrids, 'Grovix' reallocates nutrients towards vegetative mass without sacrificing ear productivity. The use of a simple hybrid structure guarantees crop homogeneity, simplifying harvest logistics and minimizing losses during silo pit loading or bio-gas plant processing.
