Reliable grain results: Working with RAGT Ekklame

When choosing a corn hybrid for grain, farmers often face the dilemma of choosing between fast moisture dry-down and high genetic yield potential. The French RAGT breeding program, specifically with the "Ekklame" hybrid, offers a balance that is noticeable right at the harvesting stage.

Field performance and yield

This is an intensive-type hybrid, so it is important not to cut corners on nutrition. In standard farm conditions, "Ekklame" demonstrates excellent starting vigor. Even with early sowing in cooler soil, germination is uniform. The FAO range of 90–1240 allows for flexible harvesting schedules, and the hybrid shows strong stalk integrity, which is critical to minimizing losses when using modern, high-capacity combines.

• Dent grain type ensures easy processing during threshing.
• High adaptability to various soil and climate conditions.
• Stable ear filling even under heat stress during the flowering phase.

Managing this hybrid doesn't require complex agronomic tricks. It responds perfectly to standard herbicide and pesticide protection programs. The biggest advantage for an agronomist is the lack of "surprises" before harvest. The stalks remain strong until the very end, allowing for calm scheduling without the pressure caused by the threat of stalk rot.
